Hyde Park
Project Type: Private domestic client
Description: Extensions and full renovation
Completed in: 2025
Overview
A comprehensive prime residential renovation executed within a grand period property overlooking Hyde Park. Undertaken with a contract budget of £650,000, BST Projects functioned as the principal contractor to completely modernise the internal spaces while strictly honoring the building's historic architectural profile. The resulting turnkey finish showcases an exceptional marriage of clean, modern minimalism, high-performance integrated infrastructure, and meticulously executed traditional plasterwork.
Architectural Restorations & Period Articulation
Preserving the stately character of the building required an expert hand in heritage-matching carpentry and plaster detailing.
The Grand Fireplace: As a primary architectural focal point showcased in, our team meticulously restored a classical ornamental white fireplace mantel with intricate period carvings, cleanly resetting it against an original brick hearth interior and matching baseline trim.
Traditional Wall Panelling: Across the main reception rooms, our craftsmen fabricated and installed bespoke dado rails and classic floating wall panel frames. This traditional woodwork runs seamlessly beneath deep-set sash window bays and flows alongside integrated floor-to-ceiling recessed display shelving and flush cabinetry doors.
Spatial Fluidity & Contemporary Timber Work
The apartment's main living zones were completely opened up to maximize deep natural light penetration from the high-arched fenestration.
Premium Flooring: Grounding the expansive floor plan is a hand-laid, wide-plank engineered oak floor with rich, dark-smoked chocolate undertones. The boards were laid to tight tolerances to provide a clean, monolithic canvas that leads out through double-glazed French patio doors to private terrace areas
Bespoke Window Craftsmanship: The large-scale vertical sash windows and ornate Juliet balconies were fully reconditioned, complete with integrated custom interior timber shutters and period-accurate brass ironmongery that elegantly mirrors the external West-End streetscapes.
Circulation Areas & Technical Integration
Transitioning away from the wide-format living areas, the circulation halls showcase an equal emphasis on subtle materiality and high-end tech integration.
Staircase Corridors: The central stairwell layout features clean white-painted timber balustrades and risers, elegantly dressed in a custom-fitted geometric striped carpet runner with polished chrome stair rods, bordered by a subtle silk-textured wallpaper.
Invisible Services: All modern electrical outlets, flush-mounted media access panels, and high-specification HVAC cooling grilles were seamlessly recessed directly into the shadow-gap plaster coving and panel frameworks, ensuring the property’s historical aesthetic remains uninterrupted by necessary modern amenities.
